My first trip to The Museum of Modern Art. (aka: MoMA ) I took tons of pictures. Here are a few favorites that are note worthy from last year. Though I enjoy all the art.
There is a outdoor portion to the museum. These were colorful statues in the garden at the Museum. I never seen anything like it before. It was so unqiue. I mean one, of them is actually purple and another green. Weird.
Inside the Museum...
“AIDS Wallpaper” by A.A. Bronson, Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal. The word says AIDS. I like how I have the two people in the picture. I like the blurr on the side with the gold painting. I find it really cool in juxtaposition with the abstract it overlaps. Also it shows the size of the art, it is wall paper and the composition looks so interesting.
Jackson Pollack. My favorite painter to learn about in art class. Talk about unique and interesting. He does away with a brush stroke and instead chooses to use the drippings. How inspired and creative. He's famous, that tells you it is OK to take a new route in art.
Sticker labels on a board. Hmm... Interesting. I am not sure how this is art? It could be abstract... yeah? It's complex and yet so simple. but it is here for all to see. That is modern!
This is one of the well known and famous Monet paintings. The entire wall is covered with it as you can see. I have seen Monet's art in books but I never knew they were this big.
I really like pointillism art. This painting is one of this style. I really like this piece. I took a close up of the detailing on it. It is amazing! I'd like to try it myself one day.
This is the first time I have seen the actual painting by the famous artist, Frida, in person! I was excited, but also shocked at how small this painting is.
Here are some more modern pieces that are considered art.
These last three works of art have a visual appeal and use their unique environment. The first one I like because it says something positive and enlightening (no pun intended), that is rare in modern art. The last one looks like a hammock. The second one is just pretty. So that is some of the more modern art pieces, I saw at MoMA.
You can see more of things like this if you go to the MoMA website. It is all online. You can get the names of artists, the time period and other information you might like to know about. This collection is from the summer of 2011. Check it out!
